Mackey field is named after Donald “Ducks” Mackey, who was a long-time supporter, Coach and Officer with the BMBL. He introduced many teams and ideas that are in place in BMBL today, such as our Junior Legion program. Mackey was the first coach of the now Junior Legion Bear Cubs and the first coach of the 12-year-old All star Bambinos, now called the Black Bears. Throughout his life, he was always involved in youth activities, not only Baseball, but also coaching Midget Mite football teams and Biddy Basketball. After his passing, the family was honored with the naming of the oldest field at the Boyertown Pool in his honor. Through the years, many fields have been added and many upgrades made, making Boyertown Park a top-notch baseball complex. Mackey would play the lottery faithfully and always told everyone, "First thing I would do is build a stadium for the kids, then enjoy what was left, if anything." Now, we can be part of building a fantastic stadium that will complete his vision.
